Student Mentors

Student Mentors are on hand to support you during your time at college.

The Student Mentors will support and guide all students throughout their time at Lowestoft College.

The purpose is to provide you with a stable and supportive contact for students as an alternative to their course-related departments; to get to know students as people in their own right; and signpost them to support networks should they find themselves in difficulties.

Attendance

If you are ill or unable to attend for some reason please ring the attendance line on 01502 525066 as early as possible on the first day of absence. Please inform us of your reason for absence and give an indication of when you expect to return. Failure to do so will result in the Mentor contacting your parents (if applicable). For prolonged absence due to illness a medical certificate will be required.

If you are absent for three weeks without producing a written explanation you will be regarded as having left the course. You should be aware that if you are at any time absent without good reason or explanation the College has an obligation (if appropriate) to notify parents, local education authorities or examination boards. In the case of part time or sponsored learners your employer will be notified. You are expected to maintain a high level of attendance throughout your course.

English and Maths Revision @ The Hub

Lowestoft College Nov 2016 (206)

From March 13th to the end of the academic year, we are running revision sessions – this includes English and Maths for GCSEs and Functional Skills. The aim will be to provide help on some of the areas of these subjects you are finding difficult, to practise exam papers under the guidance of specialist tutors and to give practical advice about revising in these subjects.

As a college, we are advising students to plan at least 2 hours of revision per week; attendance at these sessions can be a perfect way of keeping you on track to reach this goal.

Click the link below to see when these sessions will be taking place.

Good luck in your exams!
