A new project has been launched to deliver leadership and management training to SMEs across Suffolk and Norfolk.

The College of West Anglia and its partners have been successful in tendering for £250,000 of European Social Fund money to deliver the Emerging Leaders programme.

The funding is available until 31st March 2018 and will enable the dedicated support of up to 140 young emerging leaders across the New Anglia LEP area.

The programme is open to employees aged 19+ working in SMEs registered in New Anglia.

The process starts with a training needs analysis carried out by an experienced assessor in discussion with the employer (free of charge) to identify business skills needs and ensure they meet the aspirations and vision of the business.

This process should then identify skills gaps for those employees showing potential to progress to team leader, supervisor or management positions.

The training can be in the form of accredited units from technical or management qualifications, or can be a bespoke programme designed with the help of the employer, to develop leadership skills of the employees.

The project is ESF funded and managed by The College of West Anglia working in partnership with the six other general FE colleges in the New Anglia LEP area. The seven colleges  have come together to form the New Anglia Colleges Group and will be delivering the project as a partnership. The New Anglia Colleges Group (NACG) has a wide range of operational relationships already in place across the whole geography and currently works with 4,500 SMEs in New Anglia LEP.

Do you Qualify?

  • Is your business based in Norfolk or Suffolk?
  • Do you have less than 250 employees?
  • Would you like to enhance their leadership skills?
  • If so, we have the perfect training plan for you…

We know that financing staff training can be challenging for smaller companies, which is why the College of West Anglia and its partners are leading the Skills Support for Emerging Leaders project, delivering training funded, or part-funded, by the European Social Fund (ESF).

The fund can deliver skills training to your employees who are aged 19 or over, who have lived in the EU for the last three years and who are seen as ‘emerging leaders’ in your organisation.

Training is available in a range of areas including:

  • Supervision
  • Leadership and management
  • Information technology
  • Customer service
  • Marketing

To ensure the training meets your needs, we carry out a 3-stage ‘skills health’ check before training begins – this is completely free of charge. This will identify business skills needs to ensure we meet the aspirations and vision of the business, as well as identify skills gaps for those employees showing potential to progress to team leader, supervisor or management positions.

The training can be in the form of accredited units from technical or management qualifications, or can be a bespoke programme designed with the help of the employer, to develop leadership skills of the employees.

The funding is available until 31st March 2018 and will enable the dedicated support of up to 140 emerging leaders across the New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership area.

English and Maths Revision @ The Hub

Lowestoft College Nov 2016 (206)

From March 13th to the end of the academic year, we are running revision sessions – this includes English and Maths for GCSEs and Functional Skills. The aim will be to provide help on some of the areas of these subjects you are finding difficult, to practise exam papers under the guidance of specialist tutors and to give practical advice about revising in these subjects.

As a college, we are advising students to plan at least 2 hours of revision per week; attendance at these sessions can be a perfect way of keeping you on track to reach this goal.

Click the link below to see when these sessions will be taking place.

Good luck in your exams!
