• Integrity – no outside obligation should affect a governors’ performance.
• Objectivity – choices should be made on merit alone.
• Accountability – governors should be accountable for their decisions to whatever scrutiny is appropriate to their office.
• Openness – governors should be as open as possible about all decisions and actions taken.
• Honesty – any relevant private interests must be declared and action taken to avoid any conflict of interests.
• Leadership – in promoting and supporting these principles by leadership and example.
