Maritime and Offshore - ComPex Training EX01 - 04

COURSE SUMMARY:
Dangerous substances can put people’s safety at risk from fire and explosion. Under DSEAR (Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations 2002) employers and the self-employed have a duty to protect people from risk of fire, explosion and similar events in the workplace. This includes members of the public who may come into contact with work activity.

Dangerous substances are any substances used or present at work that could, if not properly controlled, cause harm to people as a result of a fire or explosion. These includes such things as solvents, paints, varnishes, flammable gases, such as liquid petroleum gas (LPG), dusts from machining and sanding operations and dusts from foodstuffs.

CompEx is a national joint training initiative developed and implemented by the Engineering Equipment and Material Users Association (EEMUA) and JTL and is supported by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
