Lowestoft College - EAST Training Restaurant

The catering industry is one of the largest employers in the UK and includes a remarkably wide range of catering operations with a correspondingly wide variety of jobs at all levels.

Students learn their skills in the College's own and very popular restaurant. The College's training restaurant, EAST, is staffed by students learning the art of fine catering and hospitality.

Here anyone, whether members of the public or students, can eat a haute cuisine meal served by trainee staff, which you would find at some of the country's finest restaurants, at very competitive prices.

" I have just returned from a lunch at the Le Plaisir Restaurant at Lowestoft College. It is used to teach students how to cook to a high standard, as well as developing skills such as waiting table. The food is excellent and represents real value for money".

EAST is open every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for lunch and dinner during college term-time.

Bookings for lunch are between 12.00pm and 1.00pm - £10.00 for 3 courses and coffee.

Bookings for lunch are between 7.00pm and 8.00pm - £17.00 for 3 courses and coffee.

These are sample menus only. Students learn a range of techniques throughout their training, which may reflect in the restaurant menus from week to week and even day to day.
