These courses offer students the opportunity to obtain, or re-sit certain subjects either to improve a grade already achieved or as first steps towards career development.
These courses can also be starting points for progression on to full-time courses leading eventually to our higher education programme.
Adult learning courses are also available to give you a taste of a range of subjects, or to study just for pleasure.

| English for Speakers of Other Languages – (ESOL) | Entry 1 or 2
These courses are for beginners; those who have not studied English in the UK before and those who have recently arrived in the UK. The aim of the courses is to develop reading, writing, speaking and listening skills in everyday situations to enable students to live, work and socialise in the local community. Topics include: shopping, going to the doctors, education, transport and culture. All learners have an individual learning plan to ensure they are supported and their individual needs are met. Learners work towards City and Guilds 3692 ESOL Certificate at Entry1 or 2. Entry 3 This course is for learners who are able to communicate in English but wish to progress to a more fluent level. The aim of the course is to further develop reading, writing, speaking and listening skills using language at Entry Level 3. A wide range of topics and materials are used to ensure a broad range of language skills are developed. Learners work towards City and Guilds 3692 ESOL Certificate at Entry 3. Level 1 or Level 2 This course is for learners with advanced English who wish to develop their language skills in order to study at College or University or for their job. Advanced language, communication and study skills are covered including English Literature, essay writing and job searching skills. Learners work towards City and Guilds 3692 ESOL SFL Level 1 or 2. |
