This course is for students who need a recognised anatomy and physiology qualification to complement other courses of study or who are interested in this fascinating subject.
This course includes study of the structure and function of all the systems of the human body including some of the common diseases and disorders.
This course provides the requirements for students following the body massage, sports therapy, aromatherapy and reflexology courses. Although no formal qualifications are required, good reading and writing skills and an interrest in human biology are necessary. |

VTCT - Vocational Training Charitable Trust
This course is for you if you want to work in one of the fastest growing and exciting industries. The units of credit gained during this course are used to gain the full Level 2 Certificate in Beauty Specialist Techniques (QCF). This course provides good opportunities for progression onto further courses of study.
You will be studying a variety of skill units related to Beauty Therapy which include:-

- Follow health and safety practice in the salon

All practical sessions after initial training are client based where the College Salon (Images Beauty Studio) becomes a realistic working environment. Candidates will be expected to assume the role of receptionist and resource assistant during the client session. |

- Health and safety and hygiene
- Client care and communication
A recognised qualification in anatomy and physiology must be obtained before the final certificate can be awarded – an additional study evening is available to complete this part of the course.
An interview is required before acceptance on to the course and students will need to purchase an appropriate uniform to wear in the salon.
Completion may lead to employment in beauty salons, health and sports centres, self-employment or further training in sports, complementary or beauty therapy.

There is also an option to study Indian Head Massage and there is an emphasis on developing Skills for Life.
Students will need NVQ Level 2, a minimum of two years experience in industry and an interview before acceptance on to the course. Achievement of this advanced qualification will provide broader career opportunities in the hairdressing industry.

Endorsed by the Sports Massage Association, this course will allow learners to develop their knowledge and understanding of the theory underpinning the practice of sports massage therapy, including functional anatomy and physiology, nutrition, classification of sports injuries and the stages of healing.
